When i first read this i think he is selfish and doesn't want anyone to know about his great findings but then when I really think about it, it seems like he was just really dedicated to his work and didn't have time to think about the media and deal with all the people who questioned his ideas. I think its great that even when he was so secretive about his abilities that people could still see how incredibly mart he was. that shows to me that he was a true genius. as i kept reading i saw that when he did actually publish something it was greeted with stupidity and it made him go back to being secretive and shy. The thing i love about newton is that he was doing this for his personal enjoyment. I think that is amazing I wish I could find that same joy when trying to solve things I don't fully understand. The great thing is he was happy doing it but, it had to be sad to have some one publicly claim they came up with your idea. So my opinion is that being public about great new information can be annoying and you might be criticized, but it can help form greater ideas and give you the credit you truly deserve.

QQc 5-6
pg 71
Quote:“Catastrophists believed that extinctions were part of a series in which animals were repeatedly wiped out and replaced with new sets a belief that the naturalist T.H. Huxley mockingly likened to”
questions: what does this really mean by set? what is it about this that the naturalist liked?
comment:I dont agree with this quote if im understanding it correctly I dont think they are replaced with a set because that doesnt really make any sense to me. maybe like they are a new set of amiamls that are very simaliar to the once before. i think its intersting that catastrophists believe that they are replaced but what lead them to believe this?

In the blue is what I chosequestion:how did he get contract dysentery?
this section in the reading I found really interesting because I am so amazed how people can be so dedicated to something. I wish I had something that I found so interesting that I would spend my days trying to get to the bottom of it. The fact that it took him eleven years and he achieved nothing is crazy to me. Also to go back home to find more terrible things sounds like the worse all for science. It really makes me think about are generation we must be super lazy compared to everyone else.

welcome to the solar system 2-3
quote:"there is actually a certain value in not finding anything/ he said. It
helps cosmologists to work out the rate at which galaxies are evolving. It's
one of those rare areas where the absence of evidence is evidence."
question: what is the rate at which galaxies evolve?
comment: I really like this line" there is actually a certain value in not finding anything" i think it can be used in a lot of different fields and areas of life this idea that no evidence is evidence and i really like that this quote and i think its really interesting when people are able to find important information when it seems like you have nothing.
